Description
A Pouilly-Fuissé wine that delights with its minerality and aromatic richness
The estate
An historic name in Burgundy, Château Fuissé has belonged to the Vincent family for 5 generations. Since 2003, oenologist Antoine Vincent has managed the family estate. Overseeing an exceptional terroir, Château de Fuissé’s vineyards stretch across nearly 40 hectares and 5 appellations in south Burgundy, of which 25 hectares are in the Pouilly-Fuissé appellation.
The vineyard
This Pouilly-Fuissé Premier Cru "Le Clos" Monopole is made from a plot of land that has been part of the estate since it was built in the 16th century and acquired in 1862 by the Vincent family. With a surface area of 2.68 hectares and classified as Premier Cru since 2020, this exceptional Burgundy terroir owes its uniqueness to its geology.
While the lower part of the slope is composed of clay which gives the wine texture and power, the marly soils of the mid-slope emphasise finesse and develop subtle citrus notes. Finally, the upper part of the vineyard, resting on hard limestone, develops subtle notes of menthol and white flowers. These characteristics are rare within the Pouilly-Fuissé appellation.
Winemaking and ageing
Harvests done by hand followed by light pneumatic pressing, adapted to the quality and ripeness of the grapes. Settling after 12 hours of cold rest. Slight oxygenation of the clear juice before it is placed in oak barrels. Fermentation with indigenous yeasts and stirring of the lees. Partial racking three months after fermentation. Vinification by plot before blending, then resting in stainless steel tanks for several months before bottling.
Blend
Chardonnay (100%).
