Color

Nose
The nose is seductive and powerful, revealing aromas of cassis cream, cherry jam, black fruits, licorice, and spices.
Palate
The palate is refined with perfectly ripe tannins. The whole is voluptuous, balanced, fleshy and delicate while maintaining a typical Pauillac structure.

The property
Château Grand-Puy-Lacoste, located in Pauillac in the Bordeaux wine region, is a prestigious estate whose history dates back to the 16th century. Classified Fifth Growth in 1855, it extends over 90 hectares, of which 58 hectares of vineyards, mainly planted with cabernet sauvignon (75%). Under the direction of François-Xavier Borie, the property has modernized its viticultural practices by adopting sustainable methods.
The vineyard
The Pauillac vineyard extends over 55 hectares in one piece. The vines, with an average age of 38 years, are planted on a terroir of deep gravels on a very hilly relief. The planting density is 10,000 feet per hectare.
The vintage
The year 2002 was marked by a hot and dry summer, favoring optimal ripening of the grapes and a concentration of aromas.
Vinification and aging
Manual harvest with double sorting of the grapes. The vinification includes a long maceration of about 3 weeks. The aging is carried out in French oak barrels with fine grain, with 75% new wood for 16 to 18 months.
Blend
Cabernet sauvignon (80%), merlot (18%), cabernet franc (2%).
