Description
The typicality of a fine red wine from Pomerol
The estate
Located in the Pomerol appellation, Château La Cabanne has belonged to Jean-Pierre Estager and his family since 1952. This historic property boasts an impressive legacy, with vines cultivated there since the Gallo-Roman era. The name of Château La Cabanne originates from the cabins of the former Serfs and Settlers working in the vineyards at the time. Following a fire in 2010, Château La Cabanne underwent a complete renovation. Since 2011, the property has been equipped with high-tech equipment, allowing for the production of wines ranked at the height of the appellation.
The vineyard
The Château La Cabanne vineyard covers 10 hectares of vines on the western slope of the Pomerol plateau. The vines are planted in clay soils with veins of blue clay famous in Pomerol, while the subsoil consists of clinker and different metal oxides. The vineyard benefits from HVE level 3 certification (High Environmental Value Level 3). The grape varieties planted at Château La Cabanne are typical of the Pomerol appellation, with a majority of Merlot (94%), supplemented by Cabernet Franc (6%).
The winemaking
Vinification without sulphite.
The ageing
15 months in barrels (55% new French oak and 44% barrels of one previous wine).
