Owned by the Bourotte-Audy family, the Clos du Clocher estate is located in the heart of the Pomerol plateau. Like a "garden of wonders" surrounded by low walls, Clos du Clocher is a benchmark for great Pomerol wines, thanks to its assertive and unique style.
Committed to a global environmental policy, Clos du Clocher manages its 5.90-hectare vineyard in a sustainable manner. The vines, which are 39 years old on average, are planted on clay-loam soils over blue clay and deep gravel subsoils. Hand-picked in crates, the grapes are sorted by hand into bunches and then by densimetric bath. The plot-by-plot vinification is accompanied by manual pumping over and regular punching down to ensure optimum extraction of the wine's aromas, tannins and structure.
Over the years, Clos du Clocher wines have become renowned for their depth, purity, smoothness, elegance and great ageing potential. From a privileged terroir, Clos du Clocher wines perfectly express the aromatic richness of Pomerol's flagship grape variety, Merlot, as well as the freshness and characteristic notes (spices, tobacco) of Cabernet Franc.
