Description
The freshness and finesse of a Pomerol red wine
The estate
Founded in 1920 by a couple of passionate winemakers, Château Le Bon Pasteur was taken over in 1978 by the famous oenologist Michel Rolland and his brother, who followed in their father’s footsteps to be the head of this Bordeaux grand cru.
The vineyard
Château Le Bon Pasteur 2022 is a Pomerol wine produced from 5.2 hectares of vines, the average age of which is 40 years. The vineyard has been awarded level 3 High Environmental Value certification.
The vintage
An early vintage thanks to optimal weather conditions. A dry winter was punctuated by cold spells in April. Flowering was explosive and harmonious in May. The grapes began to change colour in mid-July, thanks to a bright, hot and dry summer. This mild summer helped the grapes to ripen and develop their phenolic richness right up to the harvest.
Winemaking and ageing
The hand-picked grapes are double-sorted before and after destemming, and are also selected within each plot. The grapes are cold-macerated for 5 to 7 days before being vinified in new French oak barrels. The wine is aged for 15 months in French oak barrels (70% of which are new).
Blend
Merlot (80%)
Cabernet Franc (20%)
