Description

Château Palmer 2006: a Margaux with extremely smooth tannins

Château Palmer is a 3rd Classified Growth produced in the Margaux appellation. The 66-hectare vineyard grows on gravel ridges. Ageing is done in oak barrels between 18 to 21 months on average. The Château Palmer 2006 is a blend of 56% Cabernet Sauvignon and 44% Merlot.

The 2006 vintage at Château Palmer was noted for its complex weather conditions that consisted of both drought and rain. However, the truly exceptional terroir provided good conditions for the estate to fully express its style.

At tasting, the Château Palmer 2006 presents a bright red colour with slightly evolved garnet reflections. The nose reveals fragrances of red fruit (currant) before offering spicy, oaky and herbal notes. On the palate, the tannins are extremely smooth. This distinguished Château Palmer 2006 is perfectly ready to be enjoyed now or it can be cellared until 2040.
