The elegance and structure of a Saint-Julien red wine
The estate
Owned by the Henri Martin estates, the Château Saint-Pierre is a 4th Grand Cru Classé of Saint-Julien. Under the dynamic impulse of Henri Martin, the vineyard of Château Saint-Pierre as it existed in 1855 will be patiently reconstituted. This estate is now ranked among the most famous references of the emblematic appellation.
The vineyard
Château Saint-Pierre is a Saint-Julien wine whose vineyard extends over an area of 17 hectares. Benefiting from ISO 140001 and HVE 3 certification, the Henri Martin estates including Château Saint-Pierre are cultivated using reasoned farming with the use of organic and bio-control products. 2023 is the last vintage in organic conversion before the labelling of the 2024 vintage.
The vintage
A winter with seasonal temperatures gives way to a spring marked by frosts that do not impact the vineyard, as well as a mix of high temperatures and stormy episodes. These conditions favour rapid vegetative development, just like flowering. The mildew pressure, resulting from the conditions at the end of spring and the beginning of summer, is contained thanks to the rigorous work of the teams. The relative coolness recorded in mid-July precedes a mixed start to August with a heatwave stretching until mid-October, during which the know-how of the estate ensures the maintenance of the vineyard's health.
Vinification and ageing
Ageing in oak barrels (of which 50% are new).
Blend
Cabernet Sauvignon (80%), Merlot (17%) and Petit Verdot (3%).
