Description
A intense and precise Saint-Émilion Grand Cru
The Château Trottevieille is a Saint Emilion First Grand Cru Classé red wine. The 10-hectare vineyard has vines that are about 50-years-old growing in reddish soil on limestone bedrock. The 2016 vintage goes through ageing in new oak barrels for 12 to 18 months. The Château Trottevieille 2016 blend consists of 53% Cabernet Franc, 45% Merlot and 2% Cabernet Sauvignon.
At Château Trottevieille, the 2016 vintage had rather complex weather conditions. The winter was mild and rainy. It then gave way to a cold, wet spring. However, flowering could take place perfectly due to a period of good weather. The summer followed with very hot, dry conditions that caused the vines significant water stress. Fortunately, rain fell on the vineyard on September 13, which allowed the berries to finish ripening.
At the tasting, the Château Trottevieille 2016 develops intense floral aromas and empyreumatic notes. On the palate, the tannins are of great finesse and the acidity is well balanced. The fruit flavours and oak influence integrate well with each other. The Château Trottevielle 2016 is intense and offers precision until the finish.
