Characteristics and tasting advice for Krug Rosé 28th Edition
Tasting
Color
The color reveals a subtle and elegant pale pink hue.
Nose
Notes of orangeade, cherry pits, and raspberry jam are accompanied by accents of pastry and lemon meringue.
Palate
The wine presents a perfect balance between substance and finesse. Assertive red fruits such as raspberry, redcurrant, and cherry give way to softer and sweeter nuances, followed by a finish on slightly bitter citrus fruits. Notes of honey, citrus, and dried fruits linger for a long time, enhanced by the fine bubbles.
Food and wine pairings
This champagne perfectly accompanies savory dishes such as foie gras, lamb, game, white meat, and venison. It also pairs well with spicy dishes but is not recommended with sweet desserts.
Service and aging
The Krug Rosé 28th Edition should be served between 9°C and 12°C to fully reveal its richness.
An exceptional champagne from Maison Krug combining power and refinement
The estate
Founded in 1843 by Joseph Krug in Reims, Maison Krug is a pillar of excellence in champagne. With vineyards spread across several regions of Champagne, it stands out for its library of reserve wines, allowing for the creation of consistently high-quality champagnes. Currently led by Olivier Krug, the house remains faithful to the innovative spirit of its founder.
The wine
Born from the dream of the fifth generation to create a unique rosé champagne that could be produced each year, this cuvée harmoniously combines elegance and audacity.
Perpetuating the family tradition of excellence, this Krug Rosé 28th Edition results from a rigorous selection of 32 wines from 6 different years. The youngest dating from 2016 and the oldest from 2010. The reserve wines, selected from 8 different years, make up 38% of the final blend.
The vintage
The year 2016, around which this champagne was composed, was marked by very contrasting climatic conditions, with an extremely wet spring followed by mild weather and finally a heatwave at the end of maturation.
Vinification and aging
The Krug Rosé 28th Edition aged for about 7 years in the house's cellars.
Grapes
The blend consists of 58% Pinot Noir (including 10% traditional red Pinot Noir macerated on their skin), 25% Chardonnay, and 17% Meunier.
