Description
An Elegant and Complex Red from Chateau Giscours
The 2009 vintage of the Chateau Giscours Grand Vin, a 3rd Classified Growth ranked in the 1855 system, presents all the elegance and complexity of a great Margaux wine.
Located in the heart of Margaux, a famous Left Bank appellation in the Medoc region, Chateau Giscours is one of the most emblematic properties of the Bordeaux region. The 2009 vintage is considered quite exceptional, and is composed of a blend that favours the flagship red grape variety of the Left Bank, Cabernet Sauvignon (53%), supplemented by Merlot (40%) and Petit Verdot (7%). The result is a wine of great stature, depth, delicacy and persistence.
In the glass, the Chateau Giscours 2009 reveals a dark red colour with purple reflections. Harmonious and balanced, the aromatic bouquet is lightened with the freshness of red fruit and the sweetness of vanilla. When swirled, delicate empyreumatic notes of undergrowth come forward. On the palate, the attack is frank and fruity. The palate reveals a great structure and a nice roundness, as well as velvety tannins. With a nice acidity at the end, the finish leaves a pleasant lingering sensation in the mouth. This wine is ready to be enjoyed now, though the vintage allows it an ageing potential of up to 10 years, its peak period in 2027.
