Chateau Mouton-Rothschild 2016: An exceptional and full-bodied Pauillac
1st Classified Growth, Chateau Mouton Rothschild is one of the most prestigious properties in the Bordeaux wine region. This wine from Pauillac is planted on soil made of gravel and marl-limestone. Chateau Mouton Rothschild 2016 is a blend of 83% Cabernet Sauvignon, 15% Merlot 1% Cabernet Franc and 1% Petit Verdot.
2016 was a vintage that experienced a lot of rain in the winter and spring. After the heavy rains, a hot and dry summer and autumn took place. The harvest was exceptional and thanks to the heat, the vines produced small concentrated berries. Harvest started on September 26th and concluded on October 14th.
Chateau Mouton Rothschild 2016 has a fine nose and a diverse aromatic palate. Blueberries, blackcurrants and notes of flowers are immediately noticeable. Upon aeration, one can notice peppers and spices, along with notes of graphite and blond tobacco. The nose, overall, is noble and seductive. The tannins and silky and superbly enveloping. The mouth is full and rich. Flavours of black fruits, cocoa and biscuits stand out. 2016 is nothing less than an outstanding vintage.
