A white Châteauneuf-du-Pape wine combining freshness and elegance
The property
The Domaine du Vieux Télégraphe, founded in 1891 by Henri Brunier, is located in the Rhône Valley, in the heart of Châteauneuf-du-Pape, on the stony plateau of La Crau. Spanning 98 hectares, the estate is managed by brothers Frédéric and Daniel Brunier, with the sixth generation represented by their sons, Nicolas and Édouard. Known for its sustainable viticultural practices and traditional winemaking, the estate stands out for its unique terroir and historical heritage linked to Claude Chappe, the inventor of the optical telegraph.
The vineyard
Clos Roquète comes from a 3-hectare vineyard located in the place called La Roquète in Châteauneuf-du-Pape. This terroir is characterized by a very sandy surface soil, while the subsoil is composed of red clay mixed with the famous "stones of Châteauneuf". This particular composition gives the wine a unique identity, combining freshness and elegance.
The vintage
The year 2021 was marked by particular climatic conditions that favored the freshness and elegance of white wines. The contrasts in temperature allowed for a slow and progressive maturation of the grapes, thus preserving the aromas and natural acidity.
Vinification and aging
Manual harvest with a rigorous triple sorting: twice in the vineyard and a third time in the winery. After pneumatic pressing and static settling, fermentation takes place in barrels, demi-muids and foudres. The aging continues on lees in barrels and demi-muids for 10 months before bottling.
Grape varieties
This white wine is a harmonious blend of three traditional grape varieties from the region: roussanne, clairette and white grenache.
