The property
The Domaine du Vieux Télégraphe, founded in 1891 by Henri Brunier, now extends over 100 hectares in Châteauneuf-du-Pape and 20 hectares in IGP Vaucluse and AOC Ventoux. Managed by brothers Frédéric and Daniel Brunier, with the involvement of the sixth generation, the estate is renowned for its unique terroir on the La Crau plateau, characterized by rolled pebbles. The wines, elegant and harmonious, stand out for their minerality and drinkability, reflecting a family know-how of over 125 years.
The vineyard
This white wine from Châteauneuf-du-Pape comes from 5 hectares of vines located on the pebbly plateau of La Crau, at the intersection of the villages of Bédarrides, Châteauneuf-du-Pape and Courthézon, southeast of the appellation. This exceptional terroir is characterized by Miocene molasse soils 1 to 1.5 meters deep, resting on a layer of clay loaded with pebbles and covered by the alpine diluvium mantle (rolled pebbles). The vines, averaging 45 years old, benefit from this unique geological mosaic.
The vintage
The grapes of Vieux Télégraphe 2012 are harvested manually with a triple sorting: twice in the vineyard and a third time in the winery. After pneumatic pressing and static settling, fermentation takes place in barrels, demi-muids and 30 hl foudres. The aging continues on lees in these same containers for a full year before bottling, giving the wine its characteristic complexity and structure.
Grape varieties
This exceptional white wine is made from a blend of clairette, white grenache, roussane and bourboulenc, traditional grape varieties of the appellation that each bring their characteristics to create a harmonious and balanced whole.
