Tasting advice for Château Romassan 2024 from Domaines Ott*
Tasting
Color
With a pale pink hue and crystalline reflections, the color evokes the delicacy and finesse of the great rosés of Bandol.
Nose
The nose is seduced by its aromatic purity, marrying fresh citrus notes with delicate scents of white flowers.
Palate
The palate, lively from the attack, expresses aromas of pink grapefruit and white-fleshed fruits. The structure is both ample and tense, carried by a beautiful freshness, and stretches out on a long and complex finish.
Food and wine pairings
This refined rosé ideally accompanies grilled fish, ceviches, or even Mediterranean cuisine with iodized and lemony flavors.
Service and aging
To be enjoyed chilled, around 10-12°C. This wine can be savored today, but will gain in complexity until around 2027.
A great Bandol rosé, between freshness and complexity
The property
It was at the end of the 19th century that Marcel Ott, a young Alsatian agronomist, chose to settle in Provence to revive terroirs then devastated by phylloxera. At the head of the Domaines Ott*, the family now cultivates three exceptional properties: Château de Selle, Clos Mireille and Château Romassan. It was René Ott who, in the 1930s, created the famous bottle with iconic curves, which has become the symbol of the refinement of the Ott cuvées. Since 2004, Domaines Ott* has been part of the Louis Roederer house, another reference of great wine signatures.
The vineyard
Located to the west of the Var department, Château Romassan was acquired in 1956 by the Ott family. Its 74-hectare vineyard rests on a mosaic of soils - limestone, sandstone, marl and gravel - which give the wines structure, intensity and aging potential. The maritime influence of the Bandol gulf tempers the strong heat and balances the expression of the terroir by bringing freshness and liveliness.
Blend
Mourvèdre, grenache, cinsault, syrah.
