It was in 1880 that the House of Ramos Pinto was founded by Adriano Ramos Pinto. Very quickly, Ramos Pinto's strategy and brilliant innovations made the estate a pioneer among the greatest names in Port wine.
Beginning his commercial development in Brazil at the beginning of the 20th century, Ramos Pinto quickly established himself as a leader in the Latin American markets, while also expanding his network in Europe and especially in Portugal.
Driven by the ambition to produce exceptional Port wines, Ramos Pinto implemented a stategy of uncompromising quality from the start, with very high standards for production that spanned from the vine to the winery, which is located in the historic district of Vila Nova de Gaia in Porto.
True to the adage that "great wines are born from great grapes", Ramos Pinto has invested in the best vineyards of the Douro Valley, located in the Duriense region in northwestern Portugal. Over the years, through a meticulous study of the terroirs, Ramos Pinto has built up a rare and exceptional collection vineyards. The Port wines of Ramos Pinto are produced with a very thorough attention paid to detail, from the selection of the best vines and best clusters to viticultural methods, including the selection of oak barrels for ageing and blending.
