Description
Characteristics and tasting advice for the 10 Years New Vibrations Berry Bros. & Rudd 2013 Linkwood
Tasting
Appearance
Superb green gold hue, reflecting its youth and vivacity.
Nose
The bouquet opens with notes of menthol, pepper and malt, accompanied by touches of vanilla and lemon. After aeration, medicinal notes appear, evoking balm and mustard seed.
Palate
The attack is elegant and ample, developing spicy flavors of pepper and clove. Fermentary notes reminiscent of brewing mingle with liqueur-like touches of roasted pineapple and cane sugar, complemented by a hint of licorice. Mid-palate, the whisky evolves towards very fresh herbaceous notes of hay and alfalfa. This non-peated whisky presents a particularly fruity and floral profile, characteristic of Linkwood's "green/grassy" style. Its long and creamy finish reveals notes of coconut, vanilla flan and meringue, before returning to a malty territory evoking green barley and sprouting barley, concluding on a subtle blend of lemon and vanilla.
Pairings and tasting moments
This Linkwood will be particularly appreciated at the end of a meal or during a contemplative tasting. Its freshness and herbaceous notes make it an ideal companion for light desserts based on lemon or meringue. To be served slightly chilled, between 12 and 14°C.
Mixology
This exceptional single malt deserves to be tasted pure or with a few drops of water to release all its aromas. Its rarity and aromatic complexity invite you to appreciate it without artifice.
A Speyside single malt with fresh and herbaceous vibrations
Linkwood, the discreet elegance of Speyside
Founded in 1821 in Elgin in Speyside, Linkwood embodies the discreet excellence of Scottish whisky. Rebuilt by William Brown in 1872 after its official legalization in 1825, this distillery was acquired by Diageo in 1932. Its particularity lies in its pear-shaped stills that maximize contact with copper, and its prolonged fermentations (65 to 120 hours) generating characteristic fruity esters. Although mainly dedicated to prestigious blends like Johnnie Walker, Linkwood occasionally offers exceptional single malts. Its limited production and distinctive aromatic profile, both floral and herbaceous, make it a distillery revered by connoisseurs, perfectly representing the subtle elegance of Speyside whiskies.
New Vibrations, the expression of ancestral know-how
The 10 Years New Vibrations is a special edition bottled by the prestigious house Berry Bros. & Rudd, one of the oldest spirits merchants in the UK. Distilled in 2013 at the Linkwood distillery, this single malt perfectly represents the "green/grassy" style characteristic of this Speyside distillery.
This expression captures the very essence of the Linkwood distillate, extremely fruity and floral right out of the still. The 10-year aging has refined this profile while preserving the original freshness of the spirit. Berry Bros. & Rudd, with its century-old expertise in cask selection, chose this Scottish whisky for its ability to faithfully represent the distinctive character of Linkwood.
"New Vibrations" refers to the contemporary approach of this traditional whisky, offering a tasting experience that combines Scottish tradition with modern vivacity. This limited edition testifies to Berry Bros. & Rudd's desire to highlight emblematic distilleries through carefully selected bottlings.
