Domaine A.F. Gros : Richebourg Grand cru Domaine 2023
Description
The beauty of the great terroirs of Burgundy
The estate
Founded by Anne-Françoise Gros in 1988, the Domaine A.F. Gros extends over the greatest terroirs of Pommard and Vosne-Romanée. Anne-Françoise Gros and François Parent, her husband, indeed combined their estates to exploit 10 hectares in the heart of the cradle of the greatest red wines of the Côte de Beaune, the Côte de Nuits but also of Beaujolais. Today, their children Mathias and Caroline have joined the adventure alongside their parents, perpetuating with dedication their precious heritage.
Recognised worldwide for the high quality of its wines, the Gros-Parent family brings to life superb cuvées in very limited quantities.
The vineyard
Located in the heart of the most beautiful Burgundy appellations, the Richebourg cuvée from Domaine A.F Gros comes from vines aged 5, 25 and 75 years old. Dating back to the Jurassic period, the clay-limestone soil, brown or reddish in colour, about forty centimetres thick, is light and gravelly. In the pure respect of the terroir, the vineyard is traditionally managed on the principles of sustainability (soil ploughing, selective pruning, leaf thinning and green harvesting).
Vinification and ageing
Domaine A.F Gros practices exclusively manual harvesting. The vinification is carried out in enamelled concrete vats as well as wooden vats. A cold maceration (5°C) for 3 to 5 days favours the extraction of aromas and colour. The wines are aged for several months in old 500-litre barrels.
