Description
The freshness and intensity of a Puligny-Montrachet wine
The estate
The Domaine du Cellier aux Moines was founded in 1130 by the Cistercian monks from the Abbaye de la Ferté. These monks were the first to build the famous Clos (walled vineyards) de Bourgogne. Since 2004, the Pascal family have undertaken with success the restoration of the estate and have brought it back to life with a conversion to biodynamic practices.
The vineyard
Premier Cru Clos les Pucelles 2021 from the Domaine du Cellier aux Moines is a Puligny-Montrachet wine that stems from a small plot of 27 ares facing south-east, in the old Clos des Meix. The vines, aged about 50 years old, are grown between 205 and 207 metres of altitude on very fine clay-limestone soils. The vineyard has been run biodynamically since 2017.
The wine
2021 is the first vintage that the Domaine du Cellier aux Moines has been certified in Biological Agriculture.
Blend
The Puligny-Montrachet Premier Cru "Les Pucelles" 2021 from Domaine du Cellier aux Moines is made from 100% chardonnay.
