Description
The velvety and complex expression of a Clos Vougeot Grand Cru
The estate
Founded in 1782 and present in 9 Burgundian appellations, Domaine Henri Rebourseau is one of the estates which owns the most extensive surface area of Grands Crus in the Côte de Nuits. The estate hails its exceptional heritage-filled vines, resting on land that has been cultivated for over 1400 years. Today, the de Surrel family watch over this exceptional heritage by carrying out organic and biodynamic farming practices. Thus, there is no unique "Rebourseau taste" and the quality-oriented approach emphasises the crucial part that the ''climat'' plays in the production of fine wines.
The vineyard
Clos de Vougeot Grand Cru 2019 stems from the eponymous walled vineyard, known as a « Clos ». Domaine Henri Rebourseau's 2.21-hectare plot is home to 41-year-old vines located in the upper part of the emblematic Burgundy winegrowing area, on a gentle slope where the soil is rich in gravel and limestone as well as clay.
The wine
This Clos Vougeot wine’s terroir boasts an extraordinary history. In 1855, four of Burgundy's finest Cru’s were classified as "hors ligne": Chambertin, Clos de Bèze, Romanée Conti and Clos Vougeot.
The vintage
Though the growing cycle started slowly, it accelerated from May onwards. The summer notably had two heatwaves. The harvest began on 10 September giving rise to structured and complex wines while preserving freshness and minerality.
Winemaking and ageing
The harvested grapes were chilled in the depths of the winery as soon as they arrived. A minimal intervention was chosen when the fermentation took place with light treading the cap.
Blend
