The property
For 4 generations, the Domaine Joseph Drouhin has been an essential reference for great Burgundy wines. Founded at 22 years old in 1880 by Joseph Drouhin, the estate has developed over the years to reach its current size of 80 hectares spread over renowned appellations (Beaune, Bonnes-Mares, Chassagne-Montrachet, Clos Vougeot, Corton-Charlemagne, Grands-Echezeaux, Pouilly-Fuissé, …).
This family of pioneers has, since the 1957s, advocated respect for the terroir and the environment both in the management of the vineyard and in the production of its great wines.
The vineyard
Located south of the Côte de Beaune, a few kilometers from the city, Chassagne-Montrachet is one of the villages, along with Meursault and Puligny-Montrachet, that form the prestigious "Côte des Blancs".
Vinification and aging
The harvest is carried out manually in perforated crates, with meticulous sorting. Vinification begins with a slow pressing of the whole bunches in a pneumatic press, where the last press juices are separated from the free-run juice. The whites go directly into barrels after settling. The alcoholic and malolactic fermentations, as well as the aging, take place in oak barrels, 20% of which are new, for a period of 14 to 16 months.
Blend
Chardonnay (100%)
