Description
A fine and elegant Saint-Estèphe Second Wine
The estate
The origins of Château Lafon-Rochet date back to the 17th century. Located in the Saint-Estèphe appellation, Château Lafon-Rochet distinguished itself in 1855 by being awarded the title of Grand Cru Classé. With its golden yellow chartreuse walls, Château Lafon-Rochet is today a true standard of Saint-Estèphe.
The vineyard
Château Lafon-Rochet is a Saint-Estèphe wine with a 40 hectare-vineyard. The vines are 30 years old on average and are planted on two hillsides with different terroirs. The gravel soils provide excellent drainage, while the clay helps to regulate water stress. Les Pélerins de Lafon-Rochet is the estate’s Second Wine.
Winemaking and ageing
Harvested by hand, the grapes were vinified in concrete and stainless steel temperature-controlled vats. Ageing for a minimum of 12 months in barrels.
Blend
Les Pélerins de Lafon-Rochet 2020 is produced from a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon (52%), Merlot (35%) and Petit Verdot (13%).
