Description
The finesse and liveliness of a Chevalier-Montrachet Grand cru wine
The estate
The Maison Louis Jadot, established in 1859, is a real benchmark in Burgundy. Its adventure began with the acquisition of the Beaune Premier Cru "Clos des Ursules" in 1826. Owning prestigious plots of vines, the House passes on its savoir-faire to generation after generation to offer wine lovers the best of Burgundy.
Head of Maison Louis Jadot since 1992, Pierre-Henry Gagey entrusted his position to Thomas Seiter (Bouchard Père et Fils) and the role of General Manager to his son Thibault Gagey in September 2022.
The vineyard
This Chevalier-Montrachet wine comes from a vineyard located in south Côte de Beaune on the top of a hill where the villages of Puligny-Montrachet and Chassange Montrachet meet. This old half-hectare vineyard, which belonged to the family’s ancestors, the demoiselles Adèle and Julie Voillot, was brought back into the estate in 1913. The subsoil is very chalky and pebbly, well-drained and facing south/south-west.
Winemaking and ageing
The grapes were harvested by hand in small baskets to conserve their integrity. They were then gently pressed then fermented in casks from the estate’s own cooperage, of which a third are new. The ageing lasted about 15 months on fine lees before the wine was prepared for bottling.
