Description
A delicate and expressive Pernand-Vergelesses Village wine
The estate
Established since 1859, Maison Louis Jadot is a true benchmark in Burgundy. Its business began with the acquisition of the Beaune Premier Cru "Clos des Ursules" en 1826in 1826. Its trading activity led to its swift international recognition. The owner of prestigious vineyards, Maison Louis Jadot keeps alive a know-how passed down from generation to generation by offering wine lovers the very best of Burgundy.
At the head of Maison Louis Jadot since 1992, Pierre-Henry Gagey entrusted his position to Thomas Seiter (Bouchard Père et Fils) and the General Management to his son Thibault Gagey in September 2022.
The vineyard
"Les Combottes" Domaine Gagey 2021 by Louis Jadot is a Pernand-Vergelesses Village wine made from a vineyard located at the top of the eponymous village. Facing south-west, this terroir is located on a secondary soil composed of limestone.
The vintage
2021 was marked by severe frost at the beginning of April in Burgundy and unstable weather conditions throughout the year. Despite a below-average harvest, the quality is reflected through the floral and well-balanced white wines as well as vibrant, full and aromatic red wines.
Winemaking and ageing
The hand-picked grapes are gently pressed before fermentation in oak barrels from the estate's cooperage (1/3 of which are new). Aged for around 15 months on fine lees.
Blend
Chardonnay (100%).
