Mathilde, Michel Chapoutier's daughter, has taken over the running of this iconic house, which has over 350 hectares of vineyards in the most prestigious appellations of northern and southern Rhône Valley.
The vineyard
A major name among the wines of Châteauneuf-du-Pape, this Croix de Bois 2022 from M. Chapoutier is produced from vineyards planted on soils made up of rounded quartzite pebbles and red sandy clay.
The vintage
The year 2022 in the Rhône Valley saw a particularly hot and dry summer, offset by restorative rains as the harvest approached. Despite these extreme conditions, this vintage, which is more luminous than sunny, entices through its balance, its aromatic brightness and its complexity, all of which augur well for its exceptional ageing potential.

Nose
The nose is intense, mingling with a lovely complexity notes of crushed red fruit and candied orange peel, with a touch of rosewater.
