Description
The balance and finesse of a red wine from the Rhône Valley
The property
An emblematic name of the great wines of the Rhône Valley, the House of Paul Jaboulet-Aîné was founded in 1834 in Tain L’Hermitage. The renowned oenologist and winemaker Caroline Frey has been running this illustrious house, owned by the Frey family since 2006. The House of Paul Jaboulet Aîné oversees a vineyard of 125 hectares of vines, spread over exceptional appellations such as Saint-Joseph, Crozes-Hermitage, Hermitage, Cornas, Châteauneuf-du-Pape, Côte-Rôtie, Condrieu or even Muscat de Beaumes-de-Venise.
The vineyard
The Les Cèdres cuvée from the House of Paul Jaboulet-Aîné is a Châteauneuf-du-Pape wine, the most famous appellation in the southern Rhône Valley. This exceptional terroir is planted on a very stony soil mainly composed of rolled pebbles and sandy red clay. Recognized both in France and internationally for the quality of its wines, Châteauneuf-du-Pape owes its success to the time of the papacy in Avignon, between 1309 and 1376, when Pope John XXII made the eponymous castle prosper.
