Since its inception, Masciarelli has been part of the story of great Italian wines. The estate was founded in 1981 by Gianni Masciarelli. This charismatic figure was a pioneer in the renaissance of Abruzzo winegrowing and in the new Italian wine scene.
Thanks to his talent and determination, he succeeded in turning the two most important grape varieties of the region, Trebbiano and Montepulciano, into world-renowned varieties of excellence. By combining rural tradition with the development of indigenous grape varieties, the estate demonstrates the ability of local values to cross borders through wine. When asked why he embarked on this venture, Gianni Masciarelli explains that he finds his will in the destiny of his family, in the love he brings to his land and in the satisfaction he receives from the work he does.
The beating heart of the company is San Martino sulla Marrucina, in the province of Chieti, Italy. This is where the main winery is located. But the whole Masciarelli experience takes place elsewhere, at the Castello di Semivicoli. This seventeenth century baronial palace, acquired and completely renovated by the Masciarelli family into a top wine destination, is rich in history and charm, making it an unrivalled point of reference for wine tourism in the region.
In just a few years, Masciarelli's know-how and style have met with international success, making the estate one of the top 100 Italian wineries. With more than 60 vineyard plots between the sea and the mountains in the 4 provinces of Abruzzo and highly qualified teams, the estate produces 2.5 million bottles per year, ranging from everyday wines to premium labels and extremely limited editions.
