Pieria Eratini is located in the heart of the village of Kolindros, Greece, in the Central region of Macedonia. The hilly area, where the vineyards are located, is where the Pierian Mountains come closest to the Thermaic Gulf, thus enabling this mountainous terroir to fully enjoy its close proximity to the Aegean Sea. Thanks to its location at 400 metres above sea level and the deep ravines that surround it and make it difficult to access, the estate benefits from a natural barrier against potential enemies.
The natural advantages of this area in Macedonia
Pieria Eratini is surrounded to the north, south and west by the large Pieria forest. This forest has existed since ancient times and takes its name from the century-old trees that it comprises: beech, oak, chestnut, pine, fir and plane trees live together in perfect harmony and provide the estate with a solid natural barrier, all while regulating the region’s climate. This unique topography combined with a dry and healthy climate makes the village of Kolindros the most important in the north of Pieria.
The vineyards with various varieties and worked with a modern style
The Pieria Eratini estate spreads across a 15-hectare vineyard. It is a place where Greek and international grape varieties are grown side by side. Indeed, emblematic Greek varieties such as Assyrtiko, Malagousia, Kolindrino and Xinomavro flourish alongside the world's most renowned varieties such as Chardonnay, Syrah and Cabernet Sauvignon.
This broad range of grape varieties enables Pieria Eratini to work with the expression of each terroir and grape variety in an array of ways. In line with the philosophy that aims at creating a modern and innovative style, the estate practices organic farming methods to better express the voice of its terroirs.

The mountainous climate at Pieria Eratini
The microclimate at Pieria Eratini is characterised by typical moutainous temperatures. The cooling influences of the southern wind called Libiatis, as well as the northern winds, create cold winters and cool summers, even in August.
Sandy-clay soils are synonymous with high-quality grapes
Pieria Eratini's vineyards are planted on hillsides composed of light soil influenced by clay and sand. There is a high concentration of calcium carbonate. This, combined with the steepness of the hill, gather all the favourable conditions for growing vines. The nutrient-poor soils lead to low-yielding vines but contribute to the quality of the grapes and therefore to the beauty and rarity of Pieria Eratini wines.
