The estate
Château de Marsannay, located in the heart of the Côte-de-Nuits appellation, covers an area of 34 hectares. Varying between 250 and 280 metres in altitude from the south of Dijon to the commune of Vosne-Romanée, the terroir of the estate expresses through its mosaic of plots all the nuances and distinctive features of these great Burgundy terrains.
The vineyard
As the first destination on the Burgundy Grand Crus route, the Château de Marsannay oversees a 40-hectare vineyard in the Côte de Nuits and Côte de Beaune, two prestigious Burgundy appellations.
The wine
"Bel Air" 2022 from Château de Marsannay is a Gevrey-Chambertin Premier Cru wine that stems from a vineyard of nearly 40 ares. The vines, facing east on the top of a hill, rest on a rich and pebbly clay-limestone silt soil.
Winemaking and ageing
The grapes were harvested by hand then sorted meticulously n the table. Following complete destemming, the grapes were put in steel vats. Alcoholic fermentation was accompanied by punching down and pumping over to advance extraction. Ageing for 13 months in barrels (40% new), completed with a further 4 months of ageing in the mass.
Blend
Pinot Noir (100%).
