A fresh and balanced red wine from Gevrey-Chambertin

    The property

The Château de Marsannay, located in the heart of the Côte-de-Nuits appellation, extends over an area of 34 hectares. Oscillating between 250 and 280 meters in altitude from the south of the city of Dijon to the commune of Vosne-Romanée, the terroir of the estate expresses through its mosaic of parcels all the nuances and the typicity of these great Burgundy climates.

    The vineyard

First stop on the Burgundy Grands Crus route, Château de Marsannay oversees a 40-hectare vineyard spread across the Côte de Nuits and the Côte de Beaune, two prestigious Burgundy appellations.

    The wine

This "Bel Air" cuvée from Château de Marsannay is a Gevrey-Chambertin wine 1er cru from a vineyard of almost 40 ares. Exposed east at the top of the hillside, the vines rest on a limy clay-limestone soil rich in pebbles.

    Vinification and aging

The manually harvested grapes undergo rigorous sorting on the table. Following complete destemming, the berries are placed in steel vats. The alcoholic fermentation is accompanied by punch-downs and pump-overs to promote extraction. Aging for 13 months in barrels (40% new) complemented by an additional 4 months of mass aging.

    Blend

    Pinot noir (100%).
