Description
A red grand vin from Saint-Émilion
A Grand Cru of Saint-Émilion, the Château Fombrauge 2018 is made from a blend of Merlot (90%) and Cabernet Franc (10%).
A Saint-Émilion Grand Cru Classé, Château Fombrauge is located on the right bank of Bordeaux. Its vineyard is one of the oldest in Saint-Émilion. Located in Saint Christophe des Bardes, the vineyard covers 58 hectares of vines planted in a great clay-limestone soil with molasses du fronsadais.
A highly precise vinification was carried out in a fragmented way, with each plot and grape variety picked only when the fruit was ripe and taking into account the age of the vines. The intra-parcel selections were made by using a drone to establish maps of maturity and vigour. Once harvested by hand, the fruit was sorted on a table, before and after destemming, by a team of 20 people. The fermentation was carried out in oak, stainless steel and small concrete tanks using gravity.
The grand vin of the estate, the Château Fombrauge 2018 was aged for 16 months in new barrels (40%) and barrels of one previous wine (60%). A Grand Cru Classé of Saint-Émilion signed Bernard Magrez.
