Description

A fruity, vevety red wine from Haut-Médoc

The estate
Owned since 2005 by the Merlaut family, managed by Céline Villars Foubet and Jean-Pierre Foubet, Château Camensac is an estate founded in the 18th century in the Haut-Médoc appellation. This 5th Classified Growth of 1855 was the subject of significant investments, both in the vineyard and in the cellar, which enabled the estate to be equipped with the best equipment. Château Camensac now stands out as a very important reference of Haut-Médoc, offering fantastic value for price.

The vineyard
Located in Haut-Médoc, the Château Camensac vineyard comprises 25 hectares of vines. The vines are planted in two different types of soil: the Gunzian gravel found in Saint-Julien and the Graffernian gravel found in Pessac-Léognan. It is from these two types of soil that the unique wines of Château Camensac are born.

The vintage
A year marked by significant climatic contrasts, 2019 will be remembered as quite challenging for the winemakers of Bordeaux. Following a classic winter, April saw heavy rain. The scorching summer gave way to a milder month of September, punctuated by thunderstorms. The great know-how and constant attention of the technical teams have made it possible to get the very best of this vintage, a Château Camensac which promises exceptional quality.

The blend
Cabernet Sauvignon (55%), Merlot (45%).

The tasting
Tasted as a wine future, the Château Camensac 2019 reveals in the glass a beautiful deep garnet red colour. The aromatic palette evolves with notes of red fruit, such as cherry, as well as beautiful floral fragrances. The second nose reveals toasted notes of toasted, reminiscent of toasted bread. On the palate, this wine takes shape with a full and velvety texture, with a tannic structure of great finesse. The finish continues for a long time, offering liquorice notes and a nice freshness. This superb Haut-Médoc will be ready to drink from 2025 onwards, while also presenting the structure necessary to evolve through 2045.
