The property
Grand Cru Classé of Margaux, the Château Rauzan-Ségla is one of those prestigious Bordeaux wines with a thrilling history. For 350 years, Rauzan-Ségla has sought precision by repeating the same gestures of a profession combining art and craftsmanship. Second Cru Classé in 1855, Château Rauzan-Ségla is one of the most prestigious references of the Margaux appellation.
The vineyard
The vines dedicated to this vintage are on average 30 years old and extend over 51 hectares. In the heart of the Margaux appellation, the Château Rauzan-Ségla vineyard is located, near La Gironde, on fine and deep clayey gravels typical of this terroir.
The vintage
The vintage was marked by a mild winter, followed by a wet spring with seasonal temperatures. The summer experienced a cool and wet July, before switching to hot and dry conditions. The fall extended this trend with heat and drought until the end of the harvest, ensuring optimal ripening of the grapes.
Vinification and aging
Manual harvesting, then rigorous sorting of the berries. Aging for about 18 months in French oak barrels, 60% of which are new.
Blend
Cabernet sauvignon (61 %), merlot (36 %), petit verdot (3%).
