Description
The vivacity and balance of a Languedoc wine – Pic Saint Loup
The estate
Located on the heights of Saint-Mathieu de Tréviers, between Mediterranean influences and Cevennes reliefs, the Ermitage du Pic Saint-Loup estate – renamed l’Héritage du Pic Saint-Loup from the 2021 vintage – stands as an emblematic figure of Languedoc. At the helm, brothers Jean-Marc, Pierre and Xavier Ravaille share a passion for their terroir, which they accurately translate into wines of character and great elegance.
Guided by a biodynamic approach, the three brothers favor a respectful viticulture: without pesticides, with careful soil work, in order to promote the purest expression of the vineyard.
The vineyard
The estate flourishes on an exceptional terroir, a true geological mosaic mixing hard and soft limestones, dolomites, conglomerates, river scree and marls. This mineral base, combined with a climate of marked contrasts – rainy winters, dry summers, large temperature ranges – creates an ideal environment for slow and balanced maturation. A climatic singularity specific to Pic Saint-Loup, constant from one vintage to another, which gives these Languedoc wines their tension, their freshness and their complexity.
The wine
Tour de Pierres is a cuvée from the Languedoc – Pic Saint Loup appellation, made from vines grown on clay-limestone soils enriched with red clay. It seduces with its aromatic freshness, its deliciousness and its balance, accurately expressing the richness of the terroir.
Vinification and aging
The wine is aged in foudres, a choice that allows to preserve the brightness of the fruit while bringing structure and subtle complexity.
Blend
This Tour de Pierres 2022 from Héritage du Pic Saint-Loup is the result of a blend of Syrah, Grenache, Mourvèdre and Carignan.
