The estate

Located in the heart of the Pomerol appellation, close to the Church of St. John, Château Saint-Pierre is an unmissable reference in the appellation. Château Saint-Pierre is renowned for its great red Pomerol wines, made with the attention of Stéphane Derenoncourt and Frédéric Massie, both world-renowned consultant oenologists. Silky, full-bodied and structured, the wines of Château Saint-Pierre are without doubt Pomerols for long ageing.

The wine

Following in the footsteps of the Grand Vin of the estate, II du Château Saint-Pierre is a Pomerol wine that is more immediately accessible.

This Second Wine comes from a 1.4 hectare vineyard out of the property's 3 hectares. The vines are 20 years old on average and are located on the top of the plateau of the appellation, on mostly gravelly-sandy soils.

Winemaking and ageing

Manual harvesting. Fermentation in temperature-controlled stainless steel and concrete vats. Vatting time of 2 to 3 weeks. Devatting after running off. Aged for 15 months in barrels (50% new, 50% one wine).

Blend

Merlot (100%).
