Law Estate Wines : Sagacious 2011

A generous California blend with a touch of the Rhône

Renowned for the quality of its wines, which recall the richness and power of Rhône Valley wines, Law Estate Wines is located in the heart of the Paso Robles wine region of California.

After a long search for the perfect site on which to build their estate, Don and Susie Law found the perfect terroir here. Hillsides at altitudes between 450 and 550 meters benefit from optimal exposure to the sun. The unique climate of this area, combined with the richness of the calcareous soils lends a particular personality to the wines of the property.

Sagacious 2011 from Law Estate Wines reflects the aim of the owners to offer high quality wines, in which the fruit is enhanced further by expressions of the grape variety and the terroir.

Although Mourvèdre initially represented the smallest proportion of varietals planted at the estate, the excellent quality of these grapes inspired the team to grow more.

The Sagacious 2011 blend includes 38% Syrah, 34% Mourvèdre and 28% Grenache, expressing the specificity of each grape variety. Mourvèdre brings touches of licorice, black cherry and lavender, reminiscent of the South. Syrah adds structure and notes of jammy black fruits, cassis and blackberry. Grenache plays an important role thanks to its highly pigmented colour with violet reflections, which it transmits, along with its crisp red fruit notes. On the palate, this wine shows off the generosity typical of Rhône blends, with a full and dense texture in the mouth, creamy notes of black fruits, a beautiful acidity and a persistent, fresh finish.
