Newton Vineyard was founded in 1977 by Peter Newton, one of the most emblematic figures in California's Napa Valley region.
Now owned by LVMH, Newton Vineyard is one of the finest estates in Napa Valley, in the western United States.
Nestling in an enchanting landscape of green, steep hills planted with rows of terraced vines on the Spring Mountain terroir north of Rutherford, Newton Vineyard extends over 260 hectares where biodiversity reigns supreme.
The estate's 48 hectares of vines are divided into 112 plots at different altitudes, ensuring a perfect match between terroir and grape variety. Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon, Petit Verdot and Chardonnay are planted according to the particularities of the soils and climates.
This wide range of terroirs gives rise to wines with a unique personality. To preserve this diversity and typicity, each of the wines produced on the estate is vinified separately before being blended. Fermentation takes place naturally, using indigenous yeasts to preserve the unique character of each wine.
With its first vintage released in 1990, Newton Unfiltered Chardonnay became a true emblem of the estate, being one of the first unfiltered wines produced and sold in the United States.
