AALTO Bodegas y Viñedos was founded in 1999 by Mariano Garcia and Javier Zaccagnini in the heart of Spain's prestigious Ribera del Duero region. The AALTO Bodegas y Viñedos project is based on the desire to create a wine with a unique personality, by blending different terroirs to achieve great complexity and perfect balance.
AALTO Bodegas y Viñedos looks after an exceptional 130-hectare vineyard spread over more than 200 plots, located in 9 different municipalities in the heart of the Ribera del Duero appellation. With extremely low yields, the vines, aged between 40 and 100 years, produce grapes of exceptional quality. The greatest attention is paid to the vineyards, which are tended without the use of herbicides or pesticides.
Situated at different altitudes with their own micro-climates, the plots are monitored individually to ensure that the grapes are harvested at their optimum ripening date.
AALTO Bodegas y Viñedos is a leading name in Ribera del Duero, and has established itself as one of the most distinguished brands in this beautiful wine region of Spain. AALTO Bodegas y Viñedos has produced two exceptional wines, Aalto and Aalto PS (Pagos Seleccionados), voted Spain's greatest red wine. These two superb red wines pay tribute to the emblematic grape variety of the Ribera del Duero, Tempranillo, known in the region as Tinto Fino.
