Although the Loimer estate has been producing wine since the 19th century, it is impossible to separate it from its current owner: Fred Loimer. Fred Loimer is one of the new generation of Austrian winegrowers who have put their great talent and know-how to good use in environmentally friendly viticulture. It is therefore with great enthusiasm that Fred Loimer innovates and completely rethinks the objectives of the house. Driven by the ambition to produce great wines, he turned to more noble containers and initiated himself into organic viticulture. His efforts were eventually rewarded as he succeeded in establishing the Loimer estate as a reference in the wine world.
With six vineyards located in the best parts of the Kamptal, the Loimer estate enjoys an ideal geographical position. In the north, a cold current cools the evenings, while in the south, the river Danube provides sunshine and warmth. This contrast, which is typical of the Kamptal, allows the aromas of the grapes to develop fully. The duality of the terroir is also reflected in the geology, with soils rich in quartz and loess. It is from this complexity and variety that the prestigious Loiserberg, Käferberg, Steinmassl, Seeberg, Heiligenstein and Berg Vogelsang vineyards of the Loimer estate are nourished.
Despite a vast vineyard with almost 65 hectares of plots, Fred Loimer remains faithful to manual harvesting. Concerned about the environment and passionate about his vines, he makes it a point of honour to follow the requirements of biodynamic viticulture to the letter. In the winemaking process, the house has a low interventionist policy and uses only the quality of its grapes to give the wine its great character.
Differentiation is the watchword, and it is therefore only natural that Loimer wines stand out from the crowd. The high quality of these Austrian wines has made the Kamptal region famous throughout the world. The wines of the Loimer estate reflect the uniqueness of a complex terroir as well as the passion and patience of a highly talented winemaker.
