A prestigious reference in La Rioja, Bodega Lopez de Heredia is one of the largest wine producers in Spain. In a region where the viticultural economy is constantly changing, Bodega Lopez de Heredia has cultivated the art of tradition since 1877, when it was first founded by Don Rafael López of Heredia y Landeta.
One of the three oldest bodegas in La Rioja, Bodega Lopez de Heredia was founded in the immediate vicinity of the Haro train station in the heart of the La Rioja Alta region. This strategic position has facilitated both the transport of grapes and wines, and the access of French merchants to Spanish wines after the disasters caused by phylloxera wiped out many French vineyards.
For over 141 years, Bodega Lopez de Heredia has cultivated a single philosophy: to produce great wines by transmitting this passion and taste for excellence from one generation to the next. Still established in its historical cellars, Bodega Lopez de Heredia is one of the only bodegas in La Rioja to remain a family business, in full control of the production process of its wines, from grapes to bottling, without any need for external supplies.
The power of Bodega Lopez de Heredia lies in its vineyard. The 170 hectares of vineyards can be divided into 4 autonomous vineyards: the famous Tondonia which is also the largest with more than 100 hectares, the no-less-famous Bosconia, Gravonia and Cubillo. A veritable mosaic of terroirs, each vineyard is managed with the same attention and respect for tradition, in order to continue producing great wines.
Bodega Lopez de Heredia has received international acclaim for its red Gran Reserva and Vina Tondonia wines. True gems, these wines are complex and superbly structured, expressing the typical characteristics of La Rioja and the expression of the Tempranillo, Mazuelo and Graciano grape varieties.
Lopez de Heredia is also renowned for the quality of its white wines. Opulent on the nose, their aromatic richness reveals itself majestically in the palate, evolving superbly with age.
