In 1999, after devoting almost two decades of her talent as a consultant to national and international wine companies, Susana Balbo decided to realise her dream and created her own estate. This was the beginning of the Susana Balbo estate, in the heart of Luján de Cuyo Mendoza, Argentina. For ten years the estate has continued to conquer foreign markets and win over lovers of great wines with the quality of its vintages. At that time, her son José, a graduate winemaker from UC Davis in California, and her daughter Ana, a graduate in business administration from San Andrés University, decided to carry forward the family tradition and joined the team of the Susana Balbo estate.
Since then, Susana Balbo and her team have worked tirelessly to meet the highest international quality standards and demonstrate their commitment to some of the major issues of this century, namely environmental sustainability and corporate social responsibility.
The Susana Balbo estate is anchored in the heart of the province of Mendoza, located in the west of the country and characterised by its mountains. At the foot of the Andes, the vineyard is hydrated all year round thanks to the long melting of the high mountain ice, which therefore serves as a natural water reserve during spring and summer. Susana Balbo cultivates various grape varieties including the emblematic Argentinian grape variety Malbec, which offers a wide aromatic palette, the native variety Torrontes, but also traditional grape varieties such as Cabernet Sauvignon, which develops very beautiful aromas of ripe red fruits on typical notes of red pepper.
This rich terroir is magnified through a vinification shaped by passion combined with great know-how. A young and dynamic team ensures the constant innovation of the estate in the development of its wines. Thus, knowledge of the terroir and skills in winemaking are one. The result of the Susana Balbo estate are wines with vast aromas and flavours from varied terroirs, like the work of a painter playing with all the shades of his palette.
