Description
The balance and aromatic richness of a Tuscan red wine
The estate
With its centuries-old history, the Altesino estate is located in the picturesque region of Tuscany, in the heart of Italy. Adored for its rolling hills, historic vineyards and medieval towns, Tuscany is one of the world's most renowned wine-growing regions. Altesino, whose origins date back to the 16th century, is one of the jewels in the crown of this region, contributing to the development of Brunello di Montalcino, a wine that today ranks among the most sought-after in Italy. The Altesino story is one of a relentless pursuit of excellence, combining respect for tradition with technical innovation to produce wines of exceptional quality every vintage.
The vineyard
This Brunello Montalcino Riserva 2015 is a Tuscan wine from the 80 hectares of clay-limestone vineyards nestling on the slopes of Montalcino. The region, with its ideal Mediterranean climate, offers perfect conditions for the development of the Sangiovese grape variety, the only one permitted for the production of Brunello di Montalcino. The grapes ripen slowly in the generous Tuscan sunshine, acquiring a unique aromatic complexity while retaining a remarkable freshness. The topography of the land, sustainable viticulture methods and respect for biodiversity make Altesino a model of harmony between mankind and nature.
The wine
Brunello Montalcino Riserva 2015 from Altesino reflects an exceptional sunny year, giving this wine a unique personality. It is made exclusively from Sangiovese grapes, revealing the intense fruity notes and solid tannic structure that are the hallmarks of this variety. This wine expresses the quintessence of the Tuscan terroir, combining power, elegance and finesse. The 2015 vintage is particularly noteworthy for its roundness and potential longevity, promising a fascinating evolution over the years.
Winemaking and ageing
After being hand-picked and carefully sorted, the grapes are gently crushed and fermented in temperature-controlled stainless steel vats. The wine is then aged for 36 months in Slovenian oak barrels, before being refined in bottle for 6 months. This method of ageing gives the wine a fine tannic structure, while respecting the expression of the fruit and the typicity of the terroir.
