The story of Tenuta Guado al Tasso began at the end of the 1600s under the Della Gherardesca family, who had already started the practice of viticulture on the lands of Bolgheri at the time. Guido Alberto Della Gherardesca (1780-1854) was passionate about viticulture and appointed as the butler for Grand-Duke Léopold II. He dedicated himself to perpetuating the viticultural work carried out on the familial lands of the Maremma.

A new page was written in the 1930s, when Carlotta Della Gherardesca Antinori, mother to Piero Antinori and sister to the wife of Mario Incisa Della Rocchetta (the owner of Tenuta San Guido), inherited the estate with the ambition of making the estate a flagship jewel amongst the greatest Tuscan wines.

Located within the prestigious DOC Bolgheri, a recent appellation approved in 1994, the Tenuta Guado al Tasso is recognised beyond borders as an emblematic reference amongst the greatest Italian wines.
