Description

A Silky and Refined Rosé Champagne

The Estate

Founded in 1776 in Reims, the Louis Roederer Champagne House has remained family-owned and independent. After more than 200 years of existence, the Louis Roederer House is still in the hands of the same family. Today led by Frédéric Rouzaud, who represents the seventh generation of the lineage, the Louis Roederer House embodies the excellence of Champagne wines around the world thanks to cuvées crafted like a work of art.

The Vineyard

With nearly 241 hectares of vines, the Louis Roederer House draws its strength from its extraordinary vineyard, composed exclusively of Grands and Premiers Crus in the Marne Valley, the Montagne de Reims, and the Côte des Blancs. A true mosaic of terroirs, the Louis Roederer House's vineyard is divided into 410 plots that reflect the full diversity of the soils of the Champagne region.

The Wine

In order to extend the harmonious search for the ideal balance, the Louis Roederer House keeps a limited quantity of exceptional bottles for 20 years in its cellars. Thus benefiting from exceptional aging, the Cristal Vinothèque cuvées from Louis Roederer develop year after year, in the silence and darkness of the house's cellars, an aromatic complexity and an uncommon maturity.

The Vintage

2000 is a year marked by significant and regular rainfall, punctuated by a hailstorm on July 2nd impacting the vineyard of the Montagne de Reims. The summer mildness allows for the harvest of ripe grapes giving birth to classic wines that are delicate, supple, appetizing, and of great precision.

Vinification and Aging

Vinified in wood to the extent of 20%, this vintage 2000 champagne has benefited from an 11-year aging on lees, before undergoing a further 4 years of rest after disgorging.

Blend

Pinot noir (56%) and chardonnay (44%).

Characteristics and Tasting Tips for the Cristal Vinothèque Rosé 2000 from Louis Roederer

Tasting

Color
The color is a beautiful orange-pink, adorned with subtle amber reflections. The effervescence is regular and extremely fine.

Nose
Intense and beautifully fresh, the nose combines fragrances of raspberry, hazelnut, and stone fruit liqueur with notes of sweet cocoa powder.

Palate
Ample and silky, the palate seduces with its concentration, its saline and chalky freshness. As the tasting progresses, the palate reveals notes of fruit (raspberry, blackcurrant) and citrus (Sicilian orange). The finish is pure, airy, and appetizing.
