Under the impetus of two brothers, Jules and Auguste Devaux, the Devaux Champagne House was founded in 1846.
Widowed at 39, Claude-Josephe Devaux took over the Maison Vve A. Devaux and ran the family business, based in Épernay, with her son. Following his passing, his wife Augusta-Maria Herbin, the second Widow Devaux, took over the running of the company until 1879. In 1907, when Charles-Auguste Devaux died, his wife Marguerite Marie-Louise took over the company at the age of 31, joined by her sons until her death in 1951.
Thanks to the talent and dynamism of these exceptional women, the Devaux brand quickly became a reference. At the dawn of the 20th century, Devaux Champagne was already exporting 75% of its production abroad. Devaux remained a family-owned business until 1987, the year in which this priceless heritage was passed on to the Union Auboise, which has now become the "Groupe Vinicole Champagne Devaux".
Pursuing its ambition to implement sustainable viticultural practices throughout its vineyards, the Devaux Champagne House and its teams have initiated the Vineyard Quality Approach as well as the D selection for the vintages resulting from a plot selection. Working with over 100 partner winegrowers, this approach involves a rigorous and demanding commitment throughout the year and is unique in Champagne.
The Devaux Champagne House thus watches over an exceptional vineyard. The Pinot Noir grapes from the Côte des Bar is the backbone of Champagne Devaux, giving body and power to the wines and endowing them with an utterly delicate roundness. The Chardonnay grapes from the Côte des Blancs and Montgueux are selected by the House's Cellar Master for their great finesse and elegance, bringing freshness and complexity to the palate.
The quintessence of Devaux's know-how, the D collection invites you to discover cuvées from rigorous plot selections that express all the unique and pure features of their terroirs of origin. The superb Blanc de Noirs, the Coeur des Bar Champagne reveals all the power and generosity of an exceptional terroir in a bold champagne.
With juices that are always marked by their beautiful maturity, the style of the Devaux Champagne House will appeal to lovers of full-bodied champagnes, who enjoy a beautiful fruit-forward expression.
