Founded in 1970, Domaine Alexandre Bonnet is an essential reference in Champagne.
Though Lucien Noble planted his first vines in 1934, the family wine venture really began with his daughter, her husband René Bonnet and his grandsons Serge and Alain, the founders of the estate. Owned since 1998 by the Lanson-BCC group, Alexandre Bonnet has been managed since August 2019 by Arnaud Fabre. With several years of experience with many wine estates, he has devoted himself to continuing the collective commitment to the development of this exceptional terroir.
The identity of this estate is deeply rooted in the history of its vineyard: Les Riceys. Located on the borders of the Côte des Bar, it has been torn for centuries between two wine regions: Burgundy and Champagne. Champenois in the 13th century, taken over by Burgundy in 1420, returned to Champagne after the Hundred Years War, Les Riceys was then attached to the Champagne appellation during the Aube revolution. This department revolted in 1911 to obtain its attachment to the prestigious appellation and obtained it in 1927.
Rich in a unique terroir, dominated by Pinot Noir, Alexandre Bonnet produces champagnes, still wines and Rosé-des-Riceys from vines he owns, a rarity in Champagne.
The preservation of biodiversity is at the heart of the care at the estate, certified High Environmental Value since 2015. The cultivation manager, Didier Mêlé, has replanted fruit trees in the vines. Melliferous fallows have been set up to promote bee pollination and no more herbicides to prevent weeds.
Combining quality, sincerity and asserted identity, the Domaine Alexandre Bonnet is now an important player in this "other Champagne," authentic and wild.
