Description

Characteristics and tasting advice for the Grand Vintage Rosé 2016 Moët & Chandon

Tasting

Color
Shiny, the color is delicately pink.

Nose
The bouquet reveals a fruity framework evoking red fruits in syrup, crushed strawberries and raspberries. Notes of summer black fruits like blueberry mingle with delicate floral touches of rose, hibiscus and violet, complemented by nuances of gingerbread and powdered cocoa.

Palate
The attack is pleasant, tender and sweet. The initial light structure gradually softens, giving way to a sweet sensation. The fruits are fresher than on the nose, with notes of barely ripe raspberry. The finish, slightly astringent, is airy like a silk veil.

Food and wine pairings

This rosé champagne pairs perfectly with seafood dishes, white meats or red fruit desserts.

Service and aging

The Grand Vintage Rosé 2016 is best enjoyed between 8 and 10°C. To be drunk by around 2028.

An exceptional rosé champagne from a remarkable vintage

The property

Founded in 1743 by Claude Moët in Épernay, Moët & Chandon is one of the most iconic champagne houses in the world. Part of the LVMH group, the House is famous for its iconic cuvées.

The vineyard

The Moët & Chandon vineyard extends over 1,190 hectares, making it one of the largest in the Champagne region. It is spread over the best crus of the region, ensuring a constant and exceptional quality.

The vintage

Despite turbulent weather in 2016, the pinot noir and meunier grapes, which make up 85% of this champagne, are of great quality. This is the 48th rosé vintage since the creation of the House.

Vinification and aging

The Grand Vintage Rosé 2016 was made according to traditional Champagne methods, with fermentation in stainless steel tanks and extended aging on lees to develop its aromatic complexity.

Blend

43% pinot noir
42% chardonnay
15% meunier.
