Perrier-Jouët unveils a new case to set off the refinement of a rosé champagne
The estate
The Perrier-Jouët Champagne House was founded in 1811 by Pierre Perrier and his wife Adèle Jouët. Produced from exceptional Champagne terroirs (Aÿ, Mailly-Champagne, Avize and Cramant), the house's cuvées are renowned for their singular style combining aromatic richness, refinement and subtlety. From 1861 onwards, Perrier-Jouët became the official champagne of Queen Victoria, then that of the French Imperial Court.
Owned by the Champagne company GH Mumm since 1959, Perrier-Jouët's uniqueness lies in the iconic bottle of the prestige cuvée "Belle Epoque" designed in 1969 by Emile Gallé.
The vineyard
Made from a blend of emblematic Champagne terroirs (Cramant, Avize, Aÿ, Mailly and Dizy), Belle Époque Rosé is a champagne produced in limited quantities, exclusively in exceptional vintages.
The wine
Combining ecology and eco-design, Cocoon is a new minimalist case for Perrier-Jouët's vintage wines.
Made from natural materials, such as paper pulp from sustainably managed forests (FSC label) and vine shoots from the estate's own vineyards, Perrier-Jouët Belle Époque Cocoon is a light box (49 grams) that protects the bottle from light.
The vintage
A cold winter preceded a wet and cool spring which slowed down the vegetative cycle. Flowering was recorded at the beginning of July, two weeks later than average. A dry and sunny summer gave way to a mild autumn which favoured the gradual ripening of the grapes until the harvest which began on 30 September.
Winemaking and ageing
For the red, a small proportion of Pinot Noir is vinified by maceration of the clear juice with its skins. This vintage rosé champagne is aged for a minimum of 6 years in the chalky cellars of the house.
Blend
Chardonnay
Pinot Noir
Pinot Meunier
