Description
The elegance and refinement of a Philipponat champagne
The estate
Established for nearly five centuries in Mareuil-sur-Aÿ, the Philipponnat Champagne House is one of the historic names of the Champagne region. Singularity, excellence, generosity and simplicity are the values that guide this house that has kept in the spirit of a family business. Owned by the house since 1935, the legendary Clos des Goisses is one of the oldest and most prestigious clos in the Champagne region. This jewel is the source of rare and exceptionally powerful champagnes.
The vineyard
This "Cuvée Parcellaire Mareuil-sur-Ay" 2014 stems from its eponymous village and the house’s historic Champagne terroirs.
The wine
This champagne is one of a trilogy of plot-based cuvées that stems from the 2014 vintage, benefitting from Château de Mareuil’s magnificent, historic cellars dating back to the 18th century.
Winemaking and ageing
This cuvée is vinified in a traditional manner, in vats and under wood (50%), to avoid premature oxidisation. Only the juices vinified in vats are given a partial malolactic fermentation. This Extra Brut champagne benefits from at least seven years of ageing at a constant temperature (12°C) and its dosage is 4.25g/litre.
Blend
This "Cuvée Parcellaire Mareuil-sur-Ay" 2014 Philipponnat is 100% Pinot Noir.
