Description
The freshness and complexity of a vintage rosé champagne
The estate
The history of the Taittinger Champagne House goes back to the beginning of the 20th century. Now led by Pierre-Emmanuel Taittinger and his two children, Clovis and Vitalie, the Taittinger House has managed to preserve its family spirit by producing champagnes that are resolutely Chardonnay in style. Since 1 January 2020, Vitalie Taittinger has been President of the Taittinger Champagne House.
The vineyard
The Taittinger vineyard covers 288 hectares of vines and includes 37 different crus. Taittinger is thus the third largest vineyard in Champagne. The entire vineyard is certified in High Environmental Value.
The wine
This Comtes de Champagne Rosé de Taittinger is aged for more than 12 years in the heart of the estate’s Gallo-Roman chalk pits.
The vintage
The 2011 vintage saw a particularly dry spring, preceding a summer where the rainfall and coolness advanced rapid development of the vines. The grapes harvested from August onwards revealed a beautiful combination of vitality, character, balance and purity.
Blend
Pinot Noir (60%) coming from Grand Crus of the Montagne de Reims.
Chardonnay (40%) coming from the most prestigious terroirs of the Côte de Blancs.
This blend also includes 14% Bouzy Pinot, which is vinified red with a long pre-fermentation maceration, giving this cuvée a remarkable tannic structure releasing scents of red and black fruits.
