An elegant and structured vintage champagne
The estate
An essential reference among the great Champagne Houses, Veuve Clicquot has established itself since its foundation in 1772 thanks to the audacity of an exceptional woman: Madame Clicquot. At the end of the 18th century, she made history by becoming "the great lady of Champagne" and revolutionized wine making with the invention of the riddling table, guided by her motto: "Only one quality, the very first." Today globally recognized, the Veuve Clicquot House stands out with its bottles of assertive style, dressed in the iconic yellow label.
The vineyard
Owner of 390 hectares, the Veuve Clicquot House owns one of the largest vineyards in Champagne. This vineyard is also exceptional for its quality as it is spread over 12 of the 17 Grands Crus and 20 of the 44 Premiers Crus of the Champagne.
The wine
Launched in 1972 to celebrate the bicentenary of the house, "La Grande Dame" pays tribute to Madame Clicquot. Pioneer and visionary, Madame Clicquot was at the time nicknamed "The Great Lady of Champagne". This exceptional cuvée is rare and is characterized by its freshness, silky palate and elegance. Coming from vineyards located on 8 Grands Crus, La Grande Dame is a Brut champagne marked by the predominance of pinot noir in the blend, which gives it structure, power and depth.
Vinification and aging
A prestigious cuvée, this champagne benefits from extended aging in the centenary cellars of the House.
